ASUS Prime Z790 Series Overview

The ASUS Prime Z790 series comprises of six different motherboards, namely Z790-A WIFI, PRIME Z790-P WIFI, PRIME Z790-P, PRIME Z790-P WIFI D4, PRIME Z790M-PLUS, and PRIME Z790M-PLUS D4. These motherboards are equipped with an Intel LGA 1700 processor socket and utilize the Intel Z790 chipset. They differ in their form factors with ATX, Full-ATX, and Micro-ATX variants available. Regardless of the model, each motherboard supports a maximum memory size of 128GB, although the types and maximum frequencies of supported memory differ. Some models support DDR4 memory, others DDR5, and memory frequencies range from 5333 MHz to 7200 MHz.

Connectivity and Expansion Slots of Prime Z790 Series

All models in the ASUS Prime Z790 series offer different connectivity options. The Z790-A WIFI, for instance, has a clear CMOS button, DisplayPorts, HDMI ports, headphone out, LAN (RJ-45) ports, Microphone ports, and several types of USB ports. Similarly, the PRIME Z790-P WIFI has HDMI and DisplayPort. On the other hand, the PRIME Z790-P WIFI D4 and PRIME Z790M-PLUS D4 support Realtek 7.1 Surround Sound High Definition Audio CODEC. Expansion slots are model-dependent; some models like PRIME Z790-P WIFI D4 feature 4 slots while others do not have any specified.

Unique Features and Compatibility of Prime Z790 Series

The ASUS Prime Z790 series presents some unique features in different models. The Z790-A WIFI and PRIME Z790-P WIFI have Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) (MU-MIMO), while others lack this feature. LAN port and HDMI port are available in some models and absent in others. In terms of software compatibility, the PRIME Z790-P WIFI D4 and PRIME Z790M-PLUS D4 are compatible with Windows 11 and Windows 10 64-bit operating systems. As for the BIOS, the Z790-A WIFI uses the UEFI AMI type, but there is no specified BIOS for the other models.
